Zora Lives! Harlem Renaissance writer’s hometown kicks off 2011 festival

“Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.”        Zora Neale Hurston

Sometimes my timing is just right. In doing my normal Web snooping, I discovered that the  Zora Neale Hurston Festival, held in her hometown of  Eatonville, Fla., is starting today.

By the way, Eatonville was the first all-Black township incorporated in the United States in 1887.

Hurston is considered a seminal figure in African-American feminist and  literary circles. The festival runs through Jan. 30.  Check out: http://zorafestival.com/

Now I have a New Year’s resolution: To make it to the 2012 festival.
